The ZuWaKo project attended the 6th International Conference on Public Policy of the IPPA,, the ICCP6, from June 27 to 29 in Toronto, Canada. In a presentation of the overall project, Hannah Kosow gave an overview on the basic concept of the project as well as on first results on future uncertainty and on the design of the simulation game on so-called “policy-mix scenarios”. The presentation “Future water conflicts in Germany: Using serious gaming for policy design under future uncertainty” in session T14P12 “Water Governance and Policy under Climate Uncertainty” met with great interest and supported networking with other researchers in the field of water governance. The slides of the presentation can be found here and the conference paper here.

Under the title “More than Chair Circles? – Serious Games in the water sector and their potential effects on policy design”, Simon Brauner also presented a review article co-authored with Janina Moschner, Fabian Hölzlberger and Anja Brumme in session T07P04 “Participatory Research and Policy Design in Wicked Problem Settings”. In their article, the ZuWako authors describe their qualitative systematic literature review on simulation games in the field of water governance. This work also serves to systematically substantiate gaps in previous simulation games, which ZuWaKo aims to address. The slides of the presentation can be found here and the conference paper here.
