On 5 and 6 February 2025, a conference of the EURAC, Bolzano, took place in Val Venosta, South Tyrol, on the topic of “Rethinking water use”. The Val Venosta is one of the driest regions in the Alps and for centuries the topic of water and its distribution have played a central role. The current climate changes, especially the rising temperatures and the retreat of the glaciers, as well as the intensive apple cultivation in the Adige Valley are exacerbating the situation. During two evening events, scientists from various disciplines exchanged ideas with local actors. Hannah Kosow from the ZuWaKo project was invited to contribute a political science view of the topic.
