CIB Café#16 Janina Moschner on participatory modeling and serious gaming with CIB – at the example of conflicts around irrigation

On October 2, Janina Moschner, MA, from ZIRIUS at University of Stuttgart presented key results of her PhD research in ZuWaKo Module B to the CIB community. She gave insights into the participatory modeling process she carried out with a group of stakeholders in the Heilbronn region on the topic of possible future conflicts around agricultural and urban irrigation. This process resulted in a particularly large and detailled CIB model. This model allows to identify consistent policy-mixes that use synergies between the policies of different actors as farmers, municipal actors responsible for urban green, nature protection organizsations, local and remote water providers, as well as  water administration units on different levels. Janina then discussed the differences and similarities between policy-mixes identified by CIB and those identified by stakeholders during serious gaming sessions (internal consistency vs. empirical validity).
